Sea Angel at the Smithsonian

My Sea Angel image will be exhibited at the Smithsonian after being chosen by the jury of the 2010 Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards.

Not many Norwegian sea angels make it to Washington. This one did, and will be on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History from April to September 2011.

I just recieved news that my Sea Angel image (right) just made the cut to be on the prestigious list of category winners and highly honoured images that will be exhibited at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC.

About 60 of the 20.000+ images that were entered in the Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards will be put on display in the exhibit.

The exhibit opens on April 16th and is on display until the end of September 2011.

It is a truly great honour to be chosen among so many excellent photographers and photographs!

The images on display will be printed in large formats, with sizes varying from 2x3 ft to 3,5x5,5 ft according to Nature's Best Photography.

Going to Washington?

If you happen to be in Washington, DC during the time of the exhibition, I would really love to have a picture of my image on display there.

Although admittance to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History is free, I am not sure whether there will be an admittance charge to see the exhibit - but I think not.

According to statistics from the Smithsonian Newsdesk, a staggering 6.8 million people visit the Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC every year.

The sea angel (Clione limacina) is a pelagic sea slug, and the image was shot outside Kristiansand on the southern coast of Norway in the spring of 2009 on a trip with dive operator Nortech Diving.
