Malta offers spectacular wreck diving and crystal clear, blue water - a perfect combination to get some great shots and learn more about wreck photography. Join me in September for this workshop!

Posted on May 12, 2013

Malta and Gozo is well known for its spectacular wrecks and caves, incredibly clear water and friendly atmosphere.

Add to it an underwater photography workshop, and you have a trip that includes great diving, learning opportunities and lots of fun. Join me from September 14-21, 2013 for this wreck and cave photo workshop!

Learn more about shooting wrecks

The photo workshop consists of four lectures and one Master Class, which will be done in the evenings at the hotel. The topics will include equipment and lens choices, natural light vs. strobes, angles and composition and modelling. We will also review images and talk about post-processing.

The wrecks of Um El Fahroud, the Blenheim Bomber and P-29 Boltenhagen are all wrecks we plan to visit during the workshop - in addition to some great caves.

The diving will be in the very capable hands of Dive Malta. Owner Stuart Jones and his experienced crew will take us to the best wrecks and other divesites.

The wrecks Um el Fahroud, P-29 Boltenhagen, HMS Maori and MW Karwela - and of course the great Blenheim Bomber aircraft wreck are all on the menu. In addition, we will se some of Malta's most spectacular caves, Blue Grotto and Ghar Lapsi Cave.

We will also do two daytrips to the nearby island of Gozo. Here we will dive the world famous divesites of Blue Hole and Inland sea, which offers spectacular caves and rock formations.

The Kaewela is a beautiful wreck, which can be easily and safely penetrated even by normal sportsdivers.

The second daytrip will be by boat to dive the wreck of Karwela, a 50 meter long ferry scuttled as a divesite in 2006. Completely intact, this wrecks has been prepared for safe penetration and is a great dive. On the way back to Malta we will do a dive in the Cominos caves.

During the trip you will learn more about underwater photography both from lectures and hands-on tutoring on site. I will be at hand to answer your questions at all times.

HMS Maori is located in St. Elmo's Bay, just a short drive from the diveshop. It is perfect for nightdives, and we will try our luck shooting her in the dark...
