Lygnstøylsvatnet in DYK Magazine

In 1908 a huge landslide closed off the river Lygna in the Norang valley on the Norwegian west coast. Hours later, the inhabitants had to evacuate as the water started to rise...

Today, lake Lygnstøylsvatnet covers a large part of the valley, and on the bottom the remains of dairy huts, stone fences, the old road with a bridge and several gates. In the southern end of the lake, there is even a flooded forest!

With a maximum depth of just 10-12 meters this dive offers plenty of bottom time and great photo opportunities - in addition to a unique story.

This month, readers of DYK Magazine in Sweden and Denmark can cath a glimpse of what the lake has to offer - they are running my story on a four-page spread.

Lake Lygnstøylsvatnet offers a spectacular dive, unlike anything else found in Norway - or any other places, for that matter.

I have visited Lygnstøylsvatnet a number of time over the years, and the spectacular sights never seize to amaze me. It is a close to flying as it is possible to come, when you hover above the old remains.

Both the Swedish and Danish editions of DYK magazine are running the Lygnstøylsvatnet story, with a combined circulation of approximately 12.000.
