Curaçao in Dykking Magazine

The Curaçao Dive Festival takes place in May every year, and is a great chance to visit the best dive spots and catch interesting workshops on underwater photography, dive medicine and lots more.

Curaçao is well known for some of the best dive spots in the Caribbean - in addition to the colorful capital of Willemstadt and many other famous sights.

During the Curaçao Dive Festival visitors get to do some spectacular diving, see the sights and sit in on different workshops and talks on a lot of different topics.

One of the great attractions on Curaçao is the Sea Aquarium, where several dolphins in semi-captivity are more than happy to play with the visitors.

I visited the 2008 edition of the festival, and now readers of Dykking magazine can get to know more about what it is all about on a five-page spread.

Great diving

Workshops and talks held by some of the famous people on the divescene were fun to attend, but there is no doubt that the actual diving was even better:

We visited the famous wreck Superior Producer, went looking for seahorses, snorkelled with dolphins in the Curaçao Sea Aquarium and explored great divesites on the neighboring island of Klein Curaçao.

At the Curaçao Habitat, tanks are ready for the divers twenty-four seven. Boat and shore diving is offered, and they have a great house reef.

The depth gauge reads 60.2 meters, and I sound like Donald Duck. My fingers are so numb they feel like they belong to someone else and I get disoriented just by turning my head - it just keeps spinning. READ MORE
In the Amazon, they have something out of the ordinary: Pink river dolphins, called boto. I visited the Ariau Amazon Towers resort, and can now offer an exciting story with unique images.
