Nudibranch cover in Denmark

The third issue of Danish dive magazine Sportsdykkeren (Sports Diver) is out this week, and those wanting to learn more about photograping nudibranchs will not be disappointed.

Posted on Jun 6, 2012

The magazine features my image of a very bubbly Eubranchus farrani on the cover, shot at the house reef of Gulen Dive Resort on the Norwegian west coast.

Inside is my comprehensive story about photographing nudibranchs, containing tips and tricks not only on composition and how to find nudibranchs, but also on what equipment to use.

Those not too keen on (or fed up with!) nudibranchs will also get their fix from my hand this month, in an article about the wreck of Bandak, also located at Gulen Dive Resort.

Bandak was orginally built as a steamer in the late 1890'ies, but was later fitted with a diesel engine. The extra power could however not save her from becoming yet another casualty of bad weather on the Norwegian west coast in 1949

The ship that sank twice

Believe it or not, Bandak actually sank twice. She was salvaged after sinking the first time in the strait of Öresund between Denmark and Sweden, only to find her final resting place at the mouth of the world's longest fjord, Sognefjorden, a few years later.

Sportsdykkeren is the membership publication of the Danish Sportsdiver Federation, and is distrubuted to their 8.000 members six times a year.
