Sitting Pretty in DIVE Magazine

DIVE Magazine just published my story about photographing nudibranchs in the Photo Pro section of their August 2012 issue. Check out my tips and tricks on a 10-page spread!

Nudibranchs seems to be one of the favourite subjects for underwater photographers - but many struggle with getting the details right.

They're small and hard to find, and getting the composition and background right can be challenging. And then there's the question of what lenses and other equipment to use...

All these questions and more are addressed in the article, which hopefully will help the readers of DIVE magazine to get better nudibranch images.

I'm proud to be published in DIVE's Photo Pro section for the first time - a column which has been written by Alex Mustard for the last couple of years. I also love the fact that they used one of my images on the cover!

A digital magazine is more environmentally friendly, and the issues are as mobile as you are - read them on your Mac or PC or even on a mobile device.

Join the Nudibranch Safari!

Those with a special interest in nudibranchs should also consider joining the Nudibranch Safari which is held at Gulen Dive Resort at the end of March each year.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about identification, biology, reproduction and feeding habits - and also how to better photograph them.

Shooting great nudibranch images are as much about finding them as it is actually shooting them. Getting to know your subjects and where they live is crucial - but of course you have to be up to speed with your shooting technique when the opportunity presents itself.

Sometimes the things you discover in the sea are so beautiful it leaves you completely dumbfounded. The delicate and illusive sea angels certainly fall into that category.
