Flooded Forest story in Denmark

The Danish magazine Sportsdykkeren printed my story of the Flooded Forest in lake Lygnstøylsvatnet in their October 2012 issue - and put one of the images on the cover as well.

Posted on Oct 22, 2012

Lake Lygnstølsvatnet offers a unique dive among alpine diary huts, rock fences and an entire flooded forest, after the river Lygna was closed off by a rockslide in 1908. After just a few hours the water rose, forcing the inhabitants of the valley to evacuate.

In the October 2012 issue of Sportsdykkeren magazine, danish readers get the full story behind this spectacular divesite. Please click to see a slideshow of the article:

Lygnstøylsvatet is by many considered one of Norway's top dive sites - with which I completely agree with. It's simply breathtaking!

I have been diving lake Lygnstøylsvatnet regularly for the past ten years, and the stunning beauty and many surprising underwater sights never seize to amaze me - flying above the spectacular underwater landscape is a remarkable experience.

The site is featured on the Read more website, and was recently on the list of 25 coolest underwater attractions in the world compiled by Travel+Leisure Magazine.

The editors also chose to use a self portrait I shot in the lake in 2008 on the cover (right). The ScubaPixel database contains 70+ images from lake Lygnstøylsvatnet.

Crustaceans are a strange breed of animals. They are closely related to insects, and their extreme diversity in terms of behaviour, size and appearance always attract the attention of divers.
