Russian nudibranch book

I don't speak a word of Russian, but I still had to purchase Dr. Alexander Martynov and Tatiana Korshunova's beautiful book about opisthobranch molluscs in the seas of Russia.

The two Russian nudibranch experts have produced a beautiful and very comprehensive book about nudibranchs in north-west Russia - an exotic addition to my collection.

Even without understanding the text I can tell from the great photos and numerous illustrations that pretty much everything is covered in this hardcover treat.

Nerd stuff

I must admit I felt pretty much like a nerd when I met photographer Tatiana Korshunova at the Golden Dolphin dive show in Moscow last week - I just had to buy her book even though I don't read Russian at all.

We had a nice chat about nudibranchs, and it was a great pleasure having her sign my personal copy of the 229 page piece of (for me, at least) eye-candy. Now all I have to do is learn Russian...

Eubranchus rupium is one of the species we share with Russia, and it is extensively described in Dr. Alexander Martynov and Tatiana Korshunova's book.

Very useful for the Arctic region

Russia share a great many nudibranch species with Norway, and the book will be a useful addition to your library if you're thinking about joining the Nudibranch Safari at Gulen Dive Resort, which I host in March every year.

The book contains descriptions and photos of almost a hundred opisthobranch species, including nudibranchs, sea hares, bubble shells and others - in addition to extensive descriptions of biology, reproduction and other topics.

Check out the litterature list

I have also added the book to my litterature and online resources list, which you should definitely check out if you're looking for good books about marine life in general and nudibranchs in particular.

If you're interested in buying this book you can find it at Bookinary (english website) or on a number of Russian webshops. Google the ISBN 978-5-93457-358-5 for more results.

I urge all my Russian-speaking, nudibranch-loving friends to go get it as soon as they can - not that there are that many such friends, but anyway.
