I've grown tired of seeing my images look weird and over-edited! To remedy this I have bought a Spyder Pro 4 monitor calibration tool, and guess what? My images started looking better instantly! Posted on Jun 17, 2013 Earlier today, I stopped by Oslo's top photo pro establishment Interfoto, who recently moved into their new location at Skøyen just west of the city centre. The new shop looked really cool, and thanks to their helpful staff I was able to find what I was looking for: The Datacolor Spyder Pro 4 advanced monitor calibration tool.
The Spyder Pro software was easy to install, and within a few minutes after registering the software online I was up-and-running. Working on a calibrated monitor is very important to ensure that the images are edited according to the correct color profile. Otherwise they may look fine on your own screen, but completely off on other's. When delivering images for printing in magazines this is also an easy way of making sure the print looks like on my screen. Here's a quick introduction to monitor calibration and the Spyder Pro: After resetting my monitor (a rather old BenQ G2400W 24" wide-screen) the software and hardware combo got to work, measuring color tones and brightness. The whole process took just a few minutes, but I won't bore you with the details. No more messing around Previously, I have "calibrated" my monitor using various online tools and tried to tweak the settings as best I could. After changing to a new computer I have been unable to get things properly adjusted, so I'm glad it's finally in order - I have tons of images from Lembeh Strait and Papua New-Guinea that needs editing! » Click here to read more about the Spyder Pro 4 Here's where to find Interfoto, should you want to visit their new shop:
