If you're into nudibranchs and plan to visit Portugals Algarve coast anytime soon, João Pedro Silva and Gonçalo Calado's new book about sea slugs in this area is a must-have. And it works well in the field, too!

Sea Slugs of the Algarve
The authors João Pedro Silva and Gonçalo Calado has produced a very useful and informative book, called Sea Slugs of the Algarve.
The two nudibranch experts have been working on this project for a long time, documenting the approximately 150 sea slug species found along the coast of mainland Portugal.
Identification guide
The book describes opisthobranchs, which includes both true nudibranchs and other groups like cephalaspideans, anaspideans and more. It is printed on waterproof plastic sheets with a spiral binding, making it a great field guide to bring when you're out diving.
The species are described in detail with great images, divided into easy-to-understand sections. It also has two indentification guides based on color and rhinophores.
Cuthona foliata
The authors even found room for one of my images in the book - the 10 mm long species Cuthona foliata is present in Portuguese waters, but is extremely rare:
I'm very happy to help out with projects like this, because I think it is important that new and updated nudibranch litterature is published.

A great addition to my nudibranch litterature, the Sea Slugs of the Algarve contains almost 150 species, several of which are also found in Norwegian waters.
If you're looking for good books about marine life in general and nudibranchs in particular, you are welcome to check out my litterature list which also contains links to useful websites.
