Monthly winner in Siren Fleet contest

Siren Fleet just published the winners of their annual calendar competition. Phil Sokol took home the overall victory, but my feather star shrimp was voted the monthly winner for November 2013.

I went on a trip with Siren Fleet organized by Gulen Dive Resort in November 2011.

We stayed aboard the Maldives Siren, and had a really great time - and did some splendid dives in the Male, Alifu Dhaalu (Ari) and Faafu atolls.

The Maldives Siren, our home for the duration of the trip in November 2011. Unfortunately Siren Fleet no longer offer trips to the Maldives - but they have plenty of other destinations!

On one of the nightdives I came across the little shrimp above, perfectly camouflaged and hiding in the arms of a feather star.

It was really tricky to shoot, but in the end I was so pleased with the result I decided to enter the image in Siren Fleet's annual photo competition - and it was voted the monthly winner of November 2013.

The crazy gang from Gulen Dive Resort plus guests, dive leaders and crew of the Maldves Siren. Below are some other images from the trip - search for 'maldives 2013' if you want to see more!

Almost nailed a new trip...

The overall winner was Phil Sokol, who was awarded a week's stay aboard one of Siren Fleet's boats and will be used in their 2015 calendar. Congratulations!

The monthly winners all receive Aaron Wong's book The Blue Within. I'm looking very much forward to reading it and marvel over the great pictures.

Please visit Siren Fleet if you're thinking about going on a luxury liveaboard in the Maldives, Bali, Indonesia, Philippines or elsewhere - they have several boats!
