Happy snapping in DIVE Magazine

Some underwater photographers almost completely dismantle their gear after every dive, and spend silicone grease like there's no tomorrow - while others do as little as possible. What's the best maintenance approach?

Posted on May 4, 2014

This month I offer my tips on underwater camera maintenance in the Photo Pro column in DIVE Magazine, which is available online.

On a 14-page spread divers with camera in hand can learn more about what to do, and just as important what not to - before, during and after the dive.

My personal philosophy regarding underwater housing maintenance is "less is more" - but there are still some things that needs to be done. If you do them properly it will save you a lot of grief.

On February 19, 1949 the coastal freighter Bandak ran aground and sank at the entrance to the Sognefjord. Incredibly this was not the first time she sank - but it certainly was the last.
