More images from Lygnstøylsvatnet

Is it still possible to be creative when visiting a divesite for the umphteenth time? I have added more images from my seventh trip to lake Lygnstøylsvatnet to the ScubaPixel database.

Posted on Apr 27, 2011

Lake Lygnstøylsvatnet on the Norwegian west coast is renowned for its beautiful submerged forest and remains of dairy huts, which became a divespot after a rockslide in 1908.

I am just back from my seventh visit to the famous lake, having discovered many new locations and subjects previously unknown to me.

Fourteen new images have been added to the database, further extending the already rich collection of images from the lake.

Luckily, the winter closed road through this remote valley opened just two days before I was passing by the area, allowing me to enjoy the first dive of the year in the lake.

The still wintery landscape inspired me to work a little extra with this particular image in PhotoShop, resulting in an eerie, post-apocalyptic scenario entitled Atomic Winter:

This time around I tried to find new angles and creative viewpoints and work with half'n'half shots, to see if I could somehow come up with new material.

I swam around the entire lake in the process (about one mile I think), spending 1 1/2 hours in the 4ºC water... Still, it was fun to discover new locations and revisiting some of the old ones.
