The Nudibranch Safari boasts an impressive line-up of internationally acclaimed speakers. Check out the experts that will be giving lectures at Gulen Dive Resort in March 2015.

The Nudibranch Safaris held at Gulen Dive Resort on the Norwegian west coast in March 2014 will be hosted by some of the leading experts in the field.

Please look below the presentations to see who will be attending which events.

Dr. Alex Mustard
Renowned underwater photographer, author and marine biologist Dr. Alex Mustard will co-host the first of the two safari weekends. Alex is known the world over through his many workshops, award-winning images and several books and articles.

With Alex on the team, participants on the first safari will not only learn more about nudibranchs, but they will also have a great opportunity to improve their underwater photography skills.

Bernard Picton
Currently working as Curator of Marine Invertebrates at the University in Belfast, Bernard Picton is recognized as one of the world's leading experts on nudibranchs.

Bernard Picton is the author of the authoritative A Field Guide to the Nudibranchs of the British Isles, as well as numerous other papers and publications on nudibranchs and marine biology. He has also described his very own species - the Doto hystrix.

A keen contributor to SeaSlugForum and other nudibranch forums on Facebook, he is well-known among nudibranch fans around the globe. He will not only co-host the first safari together with Alex Mustard - he will also be there for the second safari.

Dr. Jussi Evertsen
Together with Torkild Bakken (below), Jussi Evertsen has been running a project mapping the distribution and biology of nudibranchs along the central coast of Norway since 1997. They are experts on Norwegian nudibranchs and have published numerous papers on the subject.

Jussi Evertsen is currently a research fellow at Trondhjem Biological Station owned by the Department of Biology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology where he is researching the photosynthetic functionality in kleptoplastic sacoglossans.

Jussi and Torkild take part in the Nudibranch Safari for the fifth time, and will co-host the second safari together with Bernard Picton.

Dr. Torkild Bakken
Not only a nudibranch expert, Torkild Bakken is also an authority on polychaetans (bristle worms). He is currently Associate Professor at the Museum of Natural History in Trondheim, where he among other things is responsible for the zoological collection to which the Nudibranch Safari participants have added several species over the last few years.

Since 1997 he has been running the above mentioned Nudibranch Project together with Jussi Evertsen.

Dr. Alexander Martynov
Not only a nudibranch expert, Torkild Bakken is also an authority on polychaetans (bristle worms). He is currently Associate Professor at the Museum of Natural History in Trondheim, where he among other things is responsible for the zoological collection to which the Nudibranch Safari participants have added several species over the last few years.

In 2011, Dr. Martynov published a comprehensive book about Russian opisthobranch together with his wife, underwater photographer Tanya Korshunova.

Tanya Korshunova

He is currently Associate Professor at the Museum of Natural History in Trondheim, where he among other things is responsible for the zoological collection to which the Nudibranch Safari participants have added several species over the last few years.

Christian Skauge
Award-winning underwater photographer Christian Skauge is a self-taught nudibranch afficionado. He started the Nudibranch Safari in 2010 and has hosted and promoted the event since then.

He has written several articles about photographing nudibranchs, and is also a marine biology instructor with the Norwegian Diving Federation (NDF). He has run several marine biology and underwater photography workshops over the years.

Jussi Evertsen-Second Nudibranch Safari, March 12.-15.
Torkild Bakken-Second Nudibranch Safari, March 12.-15.
Alexander Martynov-Russian Nudibranch Safari, March 19.-23.
Tanya Korshunova-Russian Nudibranch Safari, March 19.-23.
Christian Skauge-Present at all events

All of the experts (except Alex Mustard) will be present for the Nudibranch Symposium, a workshop aimed at nudibranch experts, scientists and reserachers held March 15.-19. 2014.
